Review: Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

Ever since the crazy hyped up beauty blender has presented, many other beauty companies are trying to come up with their cheaper version of the magical pink sponge. One of them has received quite a positive feedback, which is the Miracle Complexion Sponge from Real Techniques.

This little orange sponge claims to give you a high definition and flawless base while applying liquid foundation either damp or dry. It is shaped to provides you with three ways of applying foundation. The flat edge is specially created to contour around your eyes and nose while the tip can give you a precise control to cover imperfections. And the remaining sides can be used to blend out foundation on larger areas of your face, probably your cheeks and forehead.

How do I use it?

I like running it under water first. Then I would squeeze out the water and use the damp sponge to blend. Honestly, I use it a bit different. First, I never use it to do contouring mainly because I seldom use cream bronzer, especially in the summertime. So I like using the flat side to blend our liquid foundation. Then I use the tip to apply foundation around my nose and eyes. I like to keep the side clean as I feel better holding it.

So how does it get on with my foundation application?

It applies liquid foundation quite beautifully. I like using it with higher coverage foundation as it sheers out the foundation beautifully. Don't worry, the coverage still holds. However, my skin looks really natural and the foundation really buffs in my skin and no cakey face can be seen. One down side is that I think it is quite time consuming. I find pressing in the foundation to be the best way to apply. So I can only press in foundation on a small area each time as I use the flat side of the sponge. But it does not keep me from stop using it at all. It may only take up a few more seconds.

Overall, I really like it. It gives me a natural but flawless complexion when using it damp.  Is it an exact dupe of the beauty blender? Meh. I can do another post for the original beauty blender if you guys are interested.  So What's your experience with the miracle complexion sponge? Please do share.
